2010 - An F1 season of confused loyalties

F1 fans are going to have a tough time deciding whom to cheer for this season. With the return of an F1 legend, absence of the previous year's highest-paid driver, the world champ abandoning his winning team for a rival and other top drivers shitting teams, it will be an interesting season to watch out for.

My personal favourite Kimi Raikkonen ended up having no ride next season. Replacing Kimi will be Alonso, one of F1's more flamboyant drivers, joins the Scuderia in what is seen by many as the making of the next Michael Schumacher.

Meanwhile, the real Michael Schumacher makes a comeback this season in Mercedes GP (formerly Brawn GP). When the champion Jenson Button jumped ship to McLaren, Ross Brawn pulled in his ace prodigy to replace Button. Schumi's return is definitely gonna shake things up.

Button's jump to McLaren means they have both 2008 and 2009 champions under one roof. Will we see something similar to the bitter Alonso-Hamilton rivalry? Time will tell.

McLaren may have had a coup of sorts when it comes to drivers but they are no longer the "Mercedes" tag. The German car manufacturer is making one helluva debut with the German F1 demigod, Michael Schumacher. I'm sure Ferrari fans will not be pleased.

Ferrari will pinning their hopes on Alonso and Massa. Massa will be eager to return to racing after the freaky accident he had in 2009. Both the drivers will be determined to prove a point or two to the other. A recipe for disaster or healthy competition? Another duo to watch out for.

There's plenty happening at the tail end too. With teams like Lotus and USF1, we'll see some fresh blood in F1. The impressive show by Force India towards the fag end of 2009 must also not be forgotten. Let's hope they perform better this year and be a force to reckon.

All in all, I just can't wait for the action to begin. :)
