After seeing several negative reviews and low ratings for the movie 2012, I was expecting a boring movie. Boy, oh boy! The movie blew me away!
2012 raises the bar of stunning visual effects to dizzying heights. Apocalyptic movies have always had the best visual effects but this one was simply brilliant!
Forget the cliched, predictable storyline. Forget the stereotypical characters. Forget the ridiculousness of a modern-day Noah's Ark. Forget the protagonist who is too cute to be the guy who saves mankind. Forget the US President who sounds like a pastor. Forget all the flaws because the visuals are more than enough. They more than made up for the movie's other drawbacks.
Many will disagree with me on that point but the sheer imagination of the film's makers and VFX designers has to be appreciated. Don't expect 2012 to have a heart-touching human element to it. It's a kick-ass ride providing edge-of-the-seat entertainment.
There are times when I wondered how the actual Apocalypse would be like. I've a strong feeling it'll be a lot like the one shown in 2012.
Verdict: Money well-spent. Movies like these are the sold reason why Cinemas and Multiplexes exist.
