My GMAT Experience

If I haven’t already told you about my GMAT attempt, allow me to do so. It’s a classic example of the glorious goof-ups that I commit from time to time. Since this is a new blog, I am sure it will also serve as a good introduction as to the kind of person I am.

I couldn’t write the GMAT because I had not taken my Passport, the only ID that GMAT Council would accept if you are an Indian.

Yes, a HUGE blunder. It was the DLF MAXIMUM of blunders. A Citi Moment Of… Ok, ok… I think you got the point.

Of course, they did (try to) inform me about the passport being required. The email contained a line saying passports, driving licences or PAN cards were acceptable IDs with the *exception* of certain countries. A list of countries like Nigeria, Nepal etc followed. There was “India” in that list which I failed to notice and eventually lead to this sorry state of affairs.

Now, if you can convert your Indian driving licence to an American one without taking a driving test, why can’t it be accepted as an ID for GMAT? No offence to Nigeria and my I-want-your-bank-account-to-make-you-millionaire friends but why isn’t India treated with some respect? Hmm… you never know why!

Sigh… I guess they’re just a bit too cautious. And I was careless and stupid. Oh, what the hell… Let me see what my next hurdle in life is.

About the comic, I’m a big fan of xkcd and Brainstuck. I’ve also started reading @keeda’s Doodle Wack recently. This is me trying to imitate them. Imitation is the best form of flattery, right?

Btw, I could have managed with Quantum Teleportation too. Teleport to Calicut, pick up my passport and then teleport back to Cochin.
