My Secret Sauce to Search Nirvana

What will you do when you want to quickly dig out some information about that cool product you heard of last week? What if you want to know the best XYZ in category ABC?

Google, right? Sure, that’s what everyone does. But do you trust the results? May be it was written by some Internet marketeer using shady SEO tactics. Quite often, you get duplicate links pointing to the same product (a lack of variety).

At times like these, I use a different approach. Most of my online reading happens within… well, you guessed it… Google Reader. I’ve subscribed to so many blogs that I will never get time to read them all. Some were added just because they discuss things that might be of some use to me in the future. I’ve even subscribed to my own Twitter feed and Delicious bookmarks. The important thing to be noted is that these are sources that I trust.

Now all I’ve to do is perform the same search in Google Reader to get better (relevant, varied and trusted) results. More often than not, this beats a Google search by a huge margin. Of course, your mileage will vary depending on the number and type of blogs you’ve subscribed to.
