UI concept for an Antivirus app

No antivirus application will have an interface which looks like the one shown here. It's a hoax. But that isn't what caught my eye.

What I want to see is an app that actually manages this sort of integration. It should give a quick count of the number of infections in a folder (and its subfolders) in Explorer itself. It should let the users to go to each folder which contains the threat and nuke the nasty file by simply deleting it. I know that the information can be a bit overwhelming when displayed all the time. It doesn't have to be. The antivirus app can add a button to Explorer's toolbar that switches on/off the overlay.

Too bad I'd never have to use it though. I use Linux. ;)

Deadly Presentations

(download)

Why do some people make slides that resemble Windows BSOD screens?

Take a look at the slides embedded with this post. It's one of those email forwards I received. All I know is that the presentation is about Cholesterol. What about it? I've no clue because I didn't bother reading the text. The design (or lack of it) gave me a headache. The presentation would have been equally correct had it been named "Headache.pps".

Then why do people still make presentations like these? If the purpose was education/awareness, it will not be fulfilled with these slides.

There are decent templates available with Office software suite these days. Moreover, several gorgeous templates are available online. Most of them are free too. Yet some people just don't seem to understand the importance of good/readable design.

You don't have to be a designer. I'm not one. You just need to have some common sense. Never let your presentation slides look like these "Blue Screen Of Death" slides. They are definitely blue screens of death. They signal the death of the audience.
